If language access matters to you, this is your chance to lead. You are invited to help shape how interpreting services work — with real people and with AI.
We are creating a nonprofit group for community activists, sign language and spoken language interpreters, technology builders, researchers, and leaders. Our goal is to design and implement a system for ensuring clear communication for both ‘sides’ during interpreted conversations. Together, we will put the primary communicator at the heart of machine-influenced interpreting. You can read the Mission and Vision on our website.
As an Incorporator of this forward-looking organization, you will position yourself for influence. First, apply at this link; second, you must attend the first Mission Circle meeting on [Date]. Then you can decide whether to join an Action Circle, and if so, which one. Importantly, as an Incorporator you will be invited to two meetings/year with the Leadership of this nonprofit, and hold a lifelong right to participate as a non-voting member in Mission Circle meetings, provided that you uphold the organization’s Bylaws.

Important: As an Incorporator, you will be invited to two meetings each year with the nonprofit’s leadership. You will also have a lifelong right to take part as a non-voting member in Mission Circle meetings, as long as you follow the organization’s Bylaws.
Our members will include people who use sign language and people who speak many languages. We will use technology like automatic translation in Zoom, spoken-language interpreting when needed, and sign language interpreting regularly. This allows everyone to participate, no matter what language they use. We will co-create clear rules for using human skills and technology to improve full understanding of each other and the quality sharing of information.
